ENU employees have passed the international ISO 14001 certification
Staff members of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University have successfully completed the “Internal Auditor of Environmental Management Systems under the CT PK ISO 14001-2019 Standard” training organized by Capital Training Center.
The program aimed to strengthen competencies in environmental management and the practical application of international sustainability standards. During the course, participants studied the core principles of ISO 14001, methods of conducting internal audits, approaches to environmental risk assessment, and tools for improving environmental performance.
The CT PK ISO 14001-2019 standard is a national adaptation of the international ISO 14001:2015 standard, which provides a systematic framework for managing the environmental aspects of organizational activities. Its implementation helps reduce negative environmental impacts, ensure the rational use of natural resources, and foster a culture of environmental responsibility within the university.
The acquired knowledge enables ENU staff to conduct internal audits, monitor compliance with environmental requirements, and improve processes in accordance with the principles of sustainable development.
The certification of staff represents an important step in implementing the ENU Sustainable Development Policy and advancing the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
SDG 4 “Quality Education” - through enhancing environmental competence of staff;
SDG 12 “Responsible Consumption and Production” - through the adoption of sustainable environmental practices;
SDG 13 “Climate Action” - through effective management of the university’s environmental impact.
The introduction of an environmental management system at ENU is part of the university’s long-term strategy aimed at creating an environmentally responsible and sustainability-oriented campus. These efforts strengthen ENU’s role as a national leader in promoting sustainable development principles and fostering a green culture among staff and students.
