The Department of Environmental Protection and Nature Management of Astana has begun work on the discharge of water from the Akbulak Creek into the Yesil River in order to clear the bottom of the Akbulak Creek from long-term silt deposits.
Cleaning works of the bottom of the Akbulak creek near ENU will be carried out from September this year to April 2024. The water balance of the Akbulak stream will be restored after the completion of the dredging works.
As noted in the akimat, the cleaning of a stream of this scale is being carried out for the first time in 20 years and will contribute to maintaining a normal ecological balance. According to the capital's ecologists, silting of the bottom can lead to waterlogging of the reservoir, the appearance of an unpleasant smell.
