The "Best Librarian – 2025" Contest Held at the Scientific Library

The traditional “Best Librarian – 2025” contest was held at the Academic Library of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University in honor of Librarian’s Day, celebrated on October 24.

The purpose of the event was to enhance the prestige of the librarian profession and to support their creative initiatives. The competition brought together university faculty members, students, and library staff.

The jury included the editor of Kitap Patshalygy magazine, G. Bokeykyzy; Professor A. Oynaruly; Chairman of the ENU Trade Union Committee, B. Bolatbekuly; Ombudsperson, N. Lukpankyzy; and veteran librarian, A. Mukhtarkyzy.

The event was opened by the Director of the Academic Library, B. Asetildauly, who congratulated the librarians on their professional holiday:

“If the book is the source of knowledge, the library is the spiritual environment that promotes it. A librarian is the guardian of this precious heritage, guiding readers into the world of knowledge and spirituality,” he said.

The contest consisted of four stages: “Video About Myself,” “My Creative World,” “My Project,” and “Professional Competition.” Participants presented self-introductory videos, demonstrated their creative talents, defended projects aimed at developing library services, and answered professional questions.

According to the jury’s decision, the grand prize and the title of “Best Librarian – 2025” were awarded to Aigul Alikyzy, Chief Specialist of the “Reader Services” Department. The winner received a prize of 100,000 tenge, while other participants were awarded 50,000 tenge each.
