On October 31, the Faculty of Philology at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University hosted an International Scientific and Practical Conference titled “Value-Oriented Language and Literature Education: Experience, Challenges, and Prospects.”
The event was organized by the Pedagogical School of Mastery of the Faculty of Philology and the Department of Kazakh Linguistics, with the support of the International Association of Kazakh Language Teachers and the Academy of National Values Public Association.
More than 150 participants from various regions of Kazakhstan took part in the conference, including leading school, lyceum, and gymnasium teachers, as well as faculty members, students, and postgraduates from secondary and higher educational institutions. The conference also featured presentations by foreign scholars from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Bashkortostan, Russia, and China.
The conference proceedings were divided into three sections:
- Scientific Foundations of Value-Oriented Language and Literature Education;
- Methodological Issues and Challenges of Teaching;
- Best Practices and Innovative Approaches in Education.
Participants discussed current trends and new methodological directions in the teaching of language and literature, with particular attention to axiolinguodidactics, the value orientation of educational programs, and the role of the teacher’s personality in shaping students’ moral and cultural values.
Special emphasis was placed on improving curricula, developing teaching materials, and embedding a value-based approach into philological education. Discussions also addressed the use of innovative teaching methods, artificial intelligence applications, and the development of students’ functional literacy.
The conference successfully achieved its goal of becoming a platform for the exchange of experience among educators and researchers, while promoting the integration of national and universal human values into the process of teaching language and literature.
At the conclusion of the conference, participants adopted a set of recommendations aimed at further developing the scientific and practical foundations of value-oriented education and ensuring the deeper integration of national cultural heritage into the education system.
