
Issues related to the training of social sector specialists were discussed at the Republican Educational and Methodological Council
The L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University hosted the regular meeting of the Project Management Group of the Republican Educational and Methodological Council’s Educational and Methodological Association (REMC UMO) in the field of “Social Work”.
The meeting was opened by Ardaq Beisenbai, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of L.N. Gumilyov ENU and Deputy Chair of the Project Management Group, who highlighted the importance of training highly qualified specialists in social work and emphasized the need to align professional training with modern requirements and labour market expectations.
The first speaker, section head Qurаlаy Mukhambetova, presented the 2025–2026 academic year work plan of the section and outlined the key priorities ahead. These priorities included the renewal of educational and methodological documents, strengthening inter-university cooperation, and improving educational programmes. The proposals were actively discussed by the participants, after which the work plan was approved. The updated section composition was also presented and supported by the members of the meeting.
In addition, Q. Mukhambetova raised an initiative to introduce amendments to the classifier of higher and postgraduate education fields, noting that such changes are necessary to meet the evolving demands of the labour market. Participants expressed their support for the relevance of this initiative and offered several constructive recommendations.
One of the most engaging topics of the meeting was the international SOLID-2 project, jointly implemented by L.N. Gumilyov ENU and the Nuremberg Institute of Technology Georg Simon Ohm. Gulaziya Isakhova, senior lecturer of the Sociology Department, shared insights into the jointly developed teaching materials, the experience of instructor participation, and the broader opportunities for international collaboration within the project. Participants emphasized the project’s potential to enhance the quality of education in the field of social work and recommended incorporating its results into the educational and methodological framework of the relevant programmes.
At the conclusion of the meeting, all proposals and decisions were unanimously adopted, clearly defining the priorities for the upcoming period. The session reaffirmed its role as an important platform for strengthening cooperation in higher and postgraduate education, advancing methodological work, and expanding international partnerships.
