A Dramaturgist’s Insightful Lecture

Today, as part of the course “Genres of Dramaturgy” (Educational Program “Media Art,” course instructor: Candidate of Philological Sciences A.K. Umbetova), students attended a lecture delivered by Kenzhebai Akhmetov — Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, member of the Union of Theatre Workers of Kazakhstan, and playwright.
The author of the literary version of the production “Erte oяндым, ойландым, жете алмадым”, which won the Grand Prix at the Republican Theatre Festival, as well as the satirical comedy “Құданың өзі, құдайдың ‘көзі’ келгенде”, the historical drama “Shyraq”, and the drama “Shyrğa alañynda”, spoke about the joys and challenges of creative work.
K.K. Akhmetov has also translated the third and fourth volumes of the four-volume series “The History of the Great Steppe in Ancient and Byzantine Sources”, published under the State Program “Cultural Heritage,” along with the collection “Ancient Eastern Literature”, Giovanni Boccaccio’s “Decameron”, and Dante’s renowned poem “The Divine Comedy.”
Answering numerous questions from students, who showed great interest, he emphasized the importance of knowledge in becoming a competitive professional. Concluding the meeting, K.K. Akhmetov stated: “Art follows entirely different laws. What is new in art is created not by rejecting what came before, but by creatively mastering and refining it. A work produced later does not destroy the earlier one; on the contrary, they complement each other and coexist. The essence lies in the eternal significance and timeless value of genuine artistic creation.
