
University and Industry: Future ICT Workforce Training Discussed at ENU







L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University hosted a meeting of the Advisory Council on ICT, held in a hybrid format.
The meeting was opened by Leyla Sabitova, Director of the Department of Online Learning, who emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between the university and industry, as well as the need to adapt educational programs to the modern demands of the digital economy.
During the meeting, an analysis of ICT-related training was presented, including an overview of educational programs and student graduation project topics. Reports were delivered by Gulvira Bekeshova, representative of the Faculty of Information Technologies, and Bakhytty Koshkarova, representative of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics. ICT company representatives discussed the most in-demand competencies in the labor market and highlighted areas requiring enhancement — from data analytics to software engineering.
Industry partners proposed several initiatives to strengthen practice-oriented training. Bikesh Kurmangalieva, General Director of LLP "Center for the Development of the Digital Economy" (a subsidiary of JSC "Kazakhtelecom"), noted the high demand for data scientists and expressed readiness to organize internships and practical modules for students. Dias Bitimbaev, Chief Executive Officer of LLP “Sergek Technologies”, emphasized the company’s need for specialists in artificial intelligence and backend development. Representatives of “1C Kazakhstan” and Microsoft proposed developing joint educational courses, including modules on digital automation, cloud technologies, and modern software platforms.
Based on the results of the meeting, recommendations were formulated to improve ICT training, strengthen cooperation with industry partners, and expand practical opportunities for students.
