
The Scientific and Methodological Seminar titled “Exploring Contemporary Dimensions and Methodological Paradigms in Foreign Language Teaching”

On December 4th, 2025, in Room 224 (ULC), the issue of “Integrative Perspectives on Methodological Approaches and Practical Strategies in Foreign Language Teaching” was discussed at the Scientific and Methodological Seminar of the Foreign Languages Department of the Faculty of Philology, titled “Exploring Contemporary Dimensions and Methodological Paradigms in Foreign Language Teaching.” For the first time, the seminar was held in three languages: English, French, and German. The aim of the seminar was to address the integration of foreign language teaching by implementing practical approaches through checklists, teaching French through comparisons with English grammar and vocabulary, and enhancing motivation in German classes.
Respected scientists of ENU demonstrated an interest to visit the seminar.

Alma Bulatovna Zakirova – Director of Science Department, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor;

Aigul Yermekovna Bizhkenova - Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of Foreign Philology Department, Faculty of Philology;

Miguel Trigo Narbano – Spanish teacher, polyglot from Faculty of International Relations, who knows English, French, German, Italian, and these days – is learning Kazakh and Russian;

Zhanar Manatbeckovna Baigozhina – Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of Foreign Languages Department, Faculty of International Relations;

Kunsulu Ongarovna Yergaliyeva – Senior Lecturer of Foreign Languages Department from Faculty of International Relations attended the seminar.

The speaker, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professors Madina Zhanbyrbayevna Tussupbekova touched upon the practical approach connected with Academic writing checklists – a kind of structured assessment tool that corresponds to specific criteria. Illustrated educational checklists used by the ENU learners of Master Course ensure task completion.
Teachers of German – speakers of Foreign Languages Department, candidates of pedagogical sciences, associate professors Gulden Kabdrashevna Tussupova and Aiman Kairlovna Aubakirova presented an investigation on increasing motivation in German lessons. The researchers explained the concept of motivation in foreign language teaching, clarifying the subject of their study. The presenters also discussed the reasons for declining motivation. They considered questions regarding types of motivation were considered in connection with promoting motivation in teaching German as a foreign language.
Master of Pedagogical Sciences and Senior Lecturer, Gaukhar Mussayevna Zhussupova, presented a report on her current research in French. She teaches French lessons to student of Tourism and Hotel Business at the Bachelor’s level. By comparing similarities between the two languages, she found that students (86%) agree that proficiency in English helps them learn French.

The students of the Faculty of Philology attended the seminar. The Master Course student of Mathematics and Statistics program, Karlygash Kairbekovna Dzharbulova, attended the seminar and participated in the discussion. She stated that using checklists has a positive impact on learners’ results in academic writing and is an effective instrument for providing clear assessment.
A productive discussion took place after the presentations.
The seminar participants agreed that approaches to integrating foreign language teaching enhance overall language proficiency, increase motivation, provide a wealth of context for communication, and develop intercultural awareness.
