“Health and Vigor – 2026” Spartacist Games are launched
The opening of the traditional Spartacist Games "Health and Vigor – 2026” among the staff and faculty took place at the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University in the University Sports Centre.
The main purpose of this sports event is the development of sports and recreation activities among the ENU faculty and staff, the wide popularization of physical training and sports, as well as the formation of team cohesion and a healthy lifestyle.
16 teams from 13 faculties, ENU’s Higher College, Administrative Department and the Military Training Department are taking part in the Spartacist Games. Competitions are held in 9 sports: chess, futsal, togyzkumalak, table tennis, esports, darts, asyk atu, volleyball and basketball.
The participants of the Spartacist Games were welcomed by ENU Rector Yerlan Sydykov, who noted that the country pays special attention to the development of physical training and sports.
"In our country, the development of physical training and sports is given special importance. Systematic work is also being carried out at the Eurasian National University in this direction. ENU has a fitness club for employees on an ongoing basis. Currently, there are two gyms, a swimming pool and aerobics rooms. Such an infrastructure helps to increase the activity of team members and has a positive effect on labor productivity. The Health and Vigor Sports Contest is an important platform that strengthens the unity of the team and promotes the development of mutual understanding and cohesion through sports. I wish all participants good luck and a successful competition at a high level," Rector said.
It should be noted that in 2025, the ENU student football team won the republican tournament "Qazaqstan Student League", confirming the status of one of the best student teams in the country. Thanks to this achievement, students will defend the honor of the Republic of Kazakhstan at an international tournament to be held in the United Arab Emirates. In addition, at the city World University Games held in Astana, ENU students took 1st position in the team competition and consistently win prizes at other competitions. These achievements indicate that the Eurasian National University considers the support of sports as one of the priorities of its activities.
The Spartacist Games will end on January 17. Following the results of the competition, the teams with the best results will be awarded with diplomas, cups and medals.
