Bogdan Petrov’s PhD Dissertation Defense in Journalism

On January 24, 2026, the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (ENU) held a meeting of the Dissertation Council for the field of study "8D032 - Journalism and Information" ("6D050400 - Journalism," "8D03204 - Journalism"). Doctoral student Bogdan Petrov presented and successfully defended his dissertation titled “ The role of the media in the formation of the national identity of modern Kazakhstan»

The defense was held under the chairmanship of Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Philological Sciences Bauyrzhan Omarov. Renowned scholars and experts participated in the session, including Zarema Shaukenova, Elena Dudinova, Alua Zholdybalina, Natalya Kalashnikova, Aziz Burkhanov, Talgat Kaliev, and Dmitry Gavra.

The work was also evaluated by scientific consultants: Aitmukhanbet Esdauletov, Candidate of Philological Sciences, and foreign professor Alessandro Figus (PhD) from Italy.

During the session, the doctoral student addressed substantive questions, leading to a constructive scientific discussion.

Following the results of the online voting by the Dissertation Council members and official reviewers, Bogdan Petrov was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the educational program “8D03204 - Journalism.” We congratulate him on this achievement and wish him continued success in his future endeavors!
