
The role of women in leadership was discussed at ENU















The republican seminar "Women Leaders: The Path to Highlight" was held at The L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University as part of the 30th anniversary of the university. The event was organized by the University's trade union committee and the Commission for Women Workers of the branch trade union of Education, Science and Higher Education Workers of Kazakhstan.
The seminar was attended by representatives of the commission for women workers of the branch trade union from all regions of the country, which allowed to create a platform for the exchange of experience and discussions.
The moderator was Bakizhan Seidesh, Chairman of ENU’s primary trade union organization. Chairman of the Management Board – Rector of the University Yerlan Sydykov and Chairman of the Commission for Women Workers of the branch trade union Indira Sakauova made welcoming remarks, wishing the participants fruitful work.
Rector stressed that women's leadership in science and education is an important factor in the development of society.
"The role of women in science is an important indicator of the development of society. Today, women scientists are building up the intellectual potential of the country in the field of education and innovation and making a significant contribution to the prosperity of the state through scientific discoveries. Their perseverance and professionalism are the key to the sustainable development of science," Rector said.
During the seminar, local experts and scientists comprehensively discussed modern aspects of women's leadership. Candidate of Political Sciences Mayra Dyusembekova made a presentation "A Woman Leader of Modern Times: Intelligence, Influence, Result", revealing the substantive characteristics of women's leadership.
"A woman leader of modern times is not only a woman in a high position. This is each woman who has taken responsibility. One of the invisible pillars of society. Therefore, women's leadership today is not only a matter of equality. This is a key condition for the sustainability of society, cultural continuity and the quality of the future," she said.
Associate Professor of the ENU Department of Sociology, PhD, Elmira Otar made a presentation on "Gender Policy and Science in Kazakhstan: Women's Participation, Achievements and Talent Pool", analyzing issues of gender equality in the scientific field.
Zhanar Nakipbayeva, PhD, Chief expert of the Public Opinion Research Department of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of RK, presented the report "Women at the Intersection of Cultures: A Mosaic of Identities".
Aknur Imankul, Head of the Center for Research in the Field of Family and Gender Policy at the Kazakhstan Institute of Social Development, a doctoral student of the ENU's “Sociology” education program, raised the topic "Women's Leadership in Kazakhstan: Transformation of Value Orientations and Social Expectations."
Gibrat Sagindikova, Candidate of Physico-Mathematical Sciences, associate professor, practicing psychologist and public speaking coach, shared her thoughts on the "Inner Resource of a Female Leader."
Ainagul Bekebayeva, PhD, Senior Lecturer of the Regional Studies Department, ENU’s Faculty of International Relations, made a presentation on "Gender Barriers to Women's Self-Realization in Science", highlighting the current problems of the scientific environment.
Nurzada Amangeldy, a researcher of ENU’s Artificial Intelligence Department, presented the report "How Did We Come to Large Language Models and How Will We Develop Further?", focusing on modern technologies and the role of women in science.
During the republican seminar, participants exchanged experiences and developed proposals to enhance women's leadership potential in the field of science and education, strengthen gender equality and expand professional development opportunities.
The meeting, which took place within the framework of ENU’s 30th anniversary, emphasized the active role of the university not only in the educational and scientific space, but in social initiatives as well.
