Open Scientific Seminar on Water Balance Held at the Department of Physical and Economic Geography

On February 19, 2026, the Department of Physical and Economic Geography at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University hosted an open scientific seminar titled “Water Balance of Regional River Basins of Kazakhstan Based on Remote Sensing Data and Global Databases: Baseline Information and Preliminary Results.” The seminar was delivered by Vadim Yapiyev, PhD, Laboratory of Environmental Systems, National Laboratory Astana, Nazarbayev University. The speaker introduced approaches to assessing the water balance of Kazakhstan’s regional river basins and presented preliminary research findings based on remote sensing data and global datasets. Faculty members and students attended the event and engaged in an academic discussion of key issues. The seminar concluded with a question-and-answer session focusing on methodological details and the practical value of the presented results.
