Silver University of ENU Hosted the Master Class “The First Step in Model Walk” with the Participation of the 65+ Group “Kerbez models”

The Institute of Continuing Education of L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University organized a master class entitled “The First Step in Model Walk” for the participants of the Silver University. The event combined the aesthetics of movement, national traditions, and the philosophy of active longevity.
The honored guests of the event were the 65+ modeling group “Kerbez models,” which has represented Kazakhstan at international fashion shows in Italy, Germany, the UAE, CIS countries, and various cities across the country. Their participation gave the meeting a special significance - it was not merely a defile lesson, but a vivid example of courage, self-realization, and harmony of age.
The event moderator, Almagul Bayakhmet, spoke about the history of the group’s establishment and its volunteer mission aimed at promoting an active lifestyle among the older generation. The presented collections of national attire reflected the multifaceted image of the Kazakh woman - a guardian of traditions, a bearer of cultural heritage, and an active member of modern society.
Particular attention was drawn to the presentation of the “Chapan” collection, where the traditional costume was reinterpreted in an elegant, modern, and dignified manner. The group’s trainer, Tomiris Baitenova, conducted the practical part of the master class, introducing participants to the basics of proper posture, walking techniques, and different types of model walk. The attendees not only observed professional defile but also had the opportunity to try themselves as models.
Participants emphasized the educational and inspiring nature of the event, highlighting its importance for promoting national culture and the idea of active longevity. As a result of the master class, an initiative was launched to establish the “Defile” club within the Silver University, which plans to organize fashion shows and joint events with young people in the format of intergenerational dialogue.
Creating conditions for accessible and high-quality lifelong learning for people of all ages — focused on personal development, enhancement of cognitive abilities, acquisition of new competencies, professional growth, and improved quality of life - remains one of the key priorities of the Institute of Continuing Education of ENU.
