Scientific and Methodological Seminar on Developing Critical Thinking and Media Literacy in English Language Classes

On February 24, within the framework of the School of Pedagogical Excellence, a scientific and methodological seminar entitled “Development of Critical Thinking and Media Literacy in English Language Classes” was held. The seminar was conducted by PhD, Senior Lecturer Gulzat Tungushbayevna Kussepova.

The seminar was attended by faculty members, doctoral candidates, and master’s students of the Department of Theory and Practice of Foreign Languages. The event was aimed at enhancing teachers’ professional competence and implementing modern educational technologies in the process of teaching English.

During the seminar, актуальные issues related to the development of students’ critical thinking and media literacy were discussed. Effective methodological approaches to working with media texts were presented, and practical tasks aimed at developing students’ analytical and communicative skills were demonstrated. Particular attention was paid to the use of authentic materials and digital resources in the educational process.

The seminar was conducted in an interactive format and generated strong interest among the participants. The discussion provided an opportunity for professional exchange of experience and ideas for further improvement of English language teaching.

The event confirmed the relevance of integrating critical thinking and media literacy development technologies into modern educational practice.
