A Methodological Seminar Dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of Wikipedia Was Held

As part of the celebration of Wikipedia’s 25th anniversary, a methodological seminar was held at the university with the participation of administrators of the Kazakh-language Wikipedia. The seminar was intended for master’s and doctoral students of the Department of Cryptology and focused on discussing methodological approaches to the systematic presentation of scientific content in an open online encyclopedia.

The event was conducted within the framework of implementing the Roadmap for the development of the national system for training specialists in cryptology, particularly the section on the popularization of cryptology. In addition, the seminar took into account the instructions of Vice Minister T. Eshenkulov regarding the Open Online Encyclopedia (Wikipedia), as well as the requirements set by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In particular, in accordance with Item 52 of the Action Plan for the implementation of the Concept for the Development of Language Policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023–2029, issues related to increasing the share of Kazakh-language scientific content in the information space and developing the Kazakh language as a language of science were discussed. In this context, the work carried out and future plans for systematically enriching the Open Online Encyclopedia (Wikipedia) with scientific and encyclopedic articles, publications, research works, and reference materials in the Kazakh language were reviewed.
