
The Inclusive Support Center of held a training seminar on ENU the “1+2” model





















At the initiative of the Inclusive Support Center of ENU, a training seminar was held on supporting students with special educational needs under the “1+2” model.
The event took place at Maqsut Narikbayev University and brought together university volunteers. The program focused on developing practical skills for working in an inclusive educational environment and fostering a culture of support and mutual assistance.

The seminar began with a numismatic exhibition titled “The History of Monetary Circulation in Kazakhstan: Three Eras — One Country.” The exhibition was presented by Ruslan Erzhanov, Chairman of the “Komek” Club and a second-year student of the Faculty of History at ENU. A photo exhibition titled “Students Changing the Future,” featuring successful students with special educational needs, was also organized.
The welcoming address was delivered by Yaroslavа Kovaleva, Head-Supervisor of the Center for Inclusive Support, who emphasized the importance of developing an inclusive educational environment.
The main part of the program included:
- a presentation on “Inclusive Educational Environment: Organizing Support for Students with Special Educational Needs under the ‘1+2’ Model”;
- the experience of the student volunteer club “Komek” as a resource for inclusion;
- a session on “Volunteering in the Field of Inclusion”;
- first aid response algorithms in an inclusive university environment.
During the first aid session, participants were provided with detailed explanations of emergency response procedures, safety requirements, and specific aspects of assisting students with special educational needs.
Practical experience of volunteers working under the “1+2” model was also presented, including stages of support and areas of responsibility.
Throughout the seminar, sign language interpretation was provided by Aidana Zhaparova. Participants were introduced to the fundamentals of sign language interpretation and basic elements of sign language communication.
The event concluded with an inclusive sign language flash mob, followed by an open microphone Q&A session. Certificates were awarded to participants, and the seminar was officially closed.
The seminar contributed to enhancing the competencies of university volunteers and strengthening practical mechanisms for supporting students with special educational needs.
