Gumilyov Eurasian National University and the Eurasia Foundation. The visit of Mr. Chung Joon Kon confirmed the strong mutual interest of both parties in expanding academic cooperation aimed at the internationalization of the educational process and the development of students’ modern outlook.
As part of the visit, representatives of the Eurasia Foundation held a meeting with Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Mr. Ardak Beisenbay. During the negotiations the parties discussed the implementation of joint educational initiatives, current results of cooperation, as well as prospects for further collaboration focused on strengthening international academic ties and expanding opportunities for students and faculty members of the University.
Special attention was given to the international educational project “Eurasian Community: Identity in the 21st Century,” implemented at the Department of Oriental Studies with the support of the Eurasia Foundation. The program aims to develop students’ comprehensive understanding of contemporary world processes, enhance intercultural competence, and train specialists capable of working effectively within the modern Eurasian space.
Currently, this educational initiative is being implemented in more than 500 universities worldwide, bringing together tens of thousands of instructors and hundreds of thousands of students. The course includes omnibus-format lectures that unite experts from various academic fields, including philosophy, anthropology, political science, economics, religious studies, arts, and technology. This approach contributes to the development of integrative and critical thinking, as well as the formation of a broad intellectual outlook among students.
During the visit, Mr. Chung Joon Kon emphasized that the mission of the Eurasia Foundation is to create an educational platform that promotes mutual understanding among cultures and fosters a generation of citizens oriented toward cooperation, peace, and sustainable development.
Following the meeting the parties expressed confidence that further cooperation would contribute to expanding students’ academic opportunities, advancing research and educational initiatives, and strengthening humanitarian ties across the Eurasian region. The Foundation’s long-term institutional support contributes to the sustainable development of educational initiatives and enhances the quality of training of future specialists.
