
International Conference Dedicated to the 1010th Anniversary of Yusuf Balasaguni Held at the ENU Branch in Kyrgyzstan













The L.N. Gumilyov ENU branch in the Kyrgyz Republic hosted an international scientific and theoretical conference on the topic: «Ancient Manuscripts in the Development of the Peoples of Central Asia and their Role on an International Scale: Issues of Language, Literature, Culture, and Education» (11th–21st Centuries). The conference was dedicated to the 1010th anniversary of the birth of J. Balasagun, an outstanding figure among the Turkic peoples, thinker, and poet.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Kudaiberdi Kojobekov, Rector of Osh State University, and Mukhtar Karibai, Consul General of Kazakhstan in Osh, delivered welcoming speeches and analyzed the diversity of J. Balasagun's works, their significance in public administration, originality, and practical application.
The conference, held both online and in person, brought together scholars, doctoral students, and master's students from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, and M. Utemisuly West Kazakhstan State University, as well as scholars from universities in Tashkent, Samarkand, Namangan, Fergana, and Andijan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Informative presentations were given on the topic, creating a valuable platform for exchanging ideas.
As part of the conference's breakout sessions, graduate students from the ENU Faculty of Philology presented papers and shared valuable research relevant to the Turkic world: Sh. Kazeterova presented «The Manifestation of Artistic Tradition in Ancient Turkic Literature in Modern Free Verse», Z. Sydyk presented «Typological Features of the 'Breakaway' Motif in Kazakh and Mongolian Folk Tales», T. Akhmetbekova presented «A Structural Model of Functional Literacy Development Tasks in Teaching Literary Works (Based on B. Mailin's Story 'The Black Bucket')» and A. Baktygali presented «The Importance of Integration in Teaching Literature».
The international conference concluded with a discussion of the scholarly value of the works of J. Balasagun, a thinker, educator, scholar, and statesman who made history in the history of global education, literature, and culture through his epic work «Kutty Bilik».
