
Regional Priorities and Global Initiatives Discussed at ENU













A meeting entitled “Kazakhstan and the United Nations: Regional Leadership and Global Initiatives” was held at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University in Astana.
The event was opened by Roza Akshalova, PhD, Head of the Department of International Law. Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Nations system took part in the meeting.
At the beginning of the event, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan organized an interactive quiz for students on the Kahoot! platform dedicated to the UN’s activities in Kazakhstan. The most active participants received commemorative gifts.
Didar Temenov, Director of the Department of Multilateral Cooperation of the MFA of Kazakhstan, spoke about Kazakhstan’s priorities at the UN platform. Kurtmolla Abdulganiev, Head of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Kazakhstan, presented a report on partnerships for sustainable development. Sergey Savelyev, Chief Expert of the Institute of Foreign Policy Studies under the MFA, highlighted Kazakhstan’s regional role, while Sukhrob Khodzhakhmetov, Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), addressed the promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals in the country.
