
ENU Professor Dina Satybaldina is awarded the prestigious Academician N. Bazanova Award



Dina Satybaldina, Director of the Research Institute of Information Security and Cryptology, Professor of The L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, was awarded the Nailya Bazanova Award on the eve of International Women’s Day. The award was established by the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and is awarded to domestic women scientists for outstanding scientific achievements.
This year, 66 leading women scientists and researchers who have made a significant contribution to the development of science in Kazakhstan and achieved notable results in various scientific fields were awarded.
Academician Nailya Urazgulovna Bazanova is an outstanding Kazakhstani physiologist, the first female academician in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. She is considered the founder of a new field in biological science – physiology of farm animals. Bazanova also became the first Kazakh woman to receive Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor and Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR.
The award in her name is a sign of recognition of the merits of women scientists who have achieved high results in scientific activity, made significant discoveries or made a significant contribution to the development of applied research. Her institution is aimed at popularizing the achievements of women in the domestic science, as well as at supporting and motivating young researchers.
As Akhylbek Kurishbayev, President of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, noted at the award ceremony, the number of women engaged in scientific research in Kazakhstan is growing every year. Today, their share is about 56% of the total number of researchers, which is 12,893 people. Among them are 898 Doctors of Sciences, 2,859 Candidates of Sciences, 2,229 PhDs and 185 Industry-Related Doctors.
This award was another confirmation of the high level of scientific achievements of Kazakhstani women and their significant role in the development of national science.
