The «Dialogue of Generations» Project Discussed at the ENU Silver University Discussion Club

At the Discussion Club of the Silver University of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, a discussion of the project «Dialogue of Generations»  initiated by the Institute of Continuing Education took place.

Presentations were delivered by Rayhan Baimagоmbetova, curator of the “Silver University” project and senior specialist of the Institute of Continuing Education, and Marina Onuchko, head of the Discussion Club of the Silver University and Associate Professor of the Department of Political Science.

During the presentations it was noted that the Silver University project has been successfully implemented since 2021 and is aimed at improving the quality of life, social activity, and educational engagement of older citizens. In 2025, the founding documents of the Kazakhstan Association of Silver Universities were signed, and the international forum «Eurasian Silver Forum: Active Longevity and Education 50+» was held with the participation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek and the President of the International Association of Universities of the Third Age, Professor François Vellas.

It was within the framework of this forum that the idea of developing joint project activities between representatives of the older generation and young people was proposed, which became the basis for launching the «Dialogue of Generations» project. The project aims to create a sustainable educational and communication platform for the exchange of knowledge, experience, and values between generations, as well as to promote social responsibility and civic engagement.

Particular interest was generated by the presentation of M.Onuchko, which focused on a real-life story of Ynty Zharmukhamedova, a participant of the Silver University. During a class at the «Bilim Tarihy» Museum, she discovered a photograph of her great-grandfather - Akhmet Ishan Orazaiuly, a well-known educator, public figure.

As a result of the discussion, it was decided to actively participate in the implementation of the «Dialogue of Generations» project, prepare interviews and historical-biographical materials, and support the publication of an anniversary brochure dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the university and the 5th anniversary of the Silver University.

The «Dialogue of Generations» project will become an important step in strengthening intergenerational interaction, preserving historical memory, and developing the university community.
