
ENU Professor Askar Zhussupbekov Represented Kazakhstan at International Geotechnical Forums in the USA











Professor Askar Zhussupbekov of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University took part in one of the world’s largest industry exhibitions, ConExpo, held on March 3–7, 2026, in Las Vegas, USA.
The forum showcased advanced construction machinery, modern equipment, and innovative solutions for geotechnical laboratories. More than 140,000 specialists from 140 countries participated in the exhibition.
During the event, Professor Zhussupbekov visited the pavilions of leading global companies, including Junttan (Finland), Soilmec (Italy), MAIT (Italy), and other manufacturers of specialized equipment for pile foundation construction in complex soil conditions similar to those found in Kazakhstan.
Professor Zhussupbekov also delivered a presentation on the development of cooperation with American professors in the field of geotechnical engineering at the meeting of the International Activity Committee (IAC) within GeoCongress, held on March 8–12, 2026, in Salt Lake City, USA.
As part of the congress program, the ENU professor visited Studio Prof. Marchetti (Italy), where he familiarized himself with the application of the dilatometer for investigations in seismic regions, which is of particular interest for further implementation in Kazakhstan. Around 2,000 specialists from around the world participated in the congress.
In addition, Professor Zhussupbekov held meetings with invited professors from leading universities in the United States, where plans for visits and joint activities of the Eurasian National University for 2026–2027 were discussed.
During the working visit, the Kazakh scientist also visited the geotechnical laboratory of Columbia University in New York, where he met with invited ENU lecturers - Professor Hoe Ling (Columbia University) and Professor Victor Kaliakin (University of Delaware). The parties discussed the organization of the TC 305 workshop on geotechnical infrastructure of megacities and new capitals, which is planned to be held within GeoCongress 2027 in Philadelphia in cooperation with the University of Delaware.
At the end of the meetings, Professor Askar Zhussupbekov invited American colleagues to participate in the hird Kazakhstan-China-Japan Geotechnical Workshop, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Eurasian National University, which will take place in July 2026.
