
Nurgaliyev Readings–XV: A Dialogue of Philologists in the Space of International Cooperation















March is traditionally a significant month for the Department of Russian Philology, as the «Nurgaliyev Readings» are held during this time in collaboration with partner universities. This year marked the fifteenth conference, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
The International Scientific and Practical Conference “Nurgaliyev Readings–XV: The Scientific Community of the 21st Century. Philological Sciences” once again brought together scholars and students from various countries. Regular participants include representatives from universities in Poland, Romania, regions of Russia, Tatarstan, Uzbekistan (including Karakalpakstan), Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Moldova, the USA, and Kazakhstan. This year, researchers from Tajikistan, Iran, Slovakia, as well as the U.S. states of Arizona and Ohio, joined the conference for the first time.
The conference traditionally serves as an authoritative platform for discussing актуal issues in modern philology and fostering international academic dialogue. This year, more than 200 applications were submitted.
Among the invited guests were Shakhlo Khasanova, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, Dean of the Tajik International University of Foreign Languages named after Sotim Ulugzoda (Dushanbe); Ekaterina Sharapova, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Researcher at the V.V. Vinogradov Russian Language Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow); and Jan Teodor Gajdoš, Doctoral student at the Institute of Russian Studies of the University of Prešov (Slovakia).
The official opening and plenary session took place on March 11. Welcoming remarks were delivered by Serikzat Duisengazy, Dean of the Faculty of Philology, and Kadisha Nurgali, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, and Head of the Department of Russian Philology, who also moderated the session.
Eight presentations were delivered during the plenary session, covering a wide range of philological and interdisciplinary topics. The discussions addressed cultural environment and individual style, interpretation of literary texts, language functioning in the digital space, as well as modern Russian prose and the status of the Russian language in Central Asia.
On the second day, the conference continued with panel sessions in five areas:
paradigms of modern linguistics;
new approaches to literary studies;
digital transformation in philological education;
poetics and hermeneutics of texts;
translation and cross-cultural communication.
The sessions featured active academic discussions, promoting interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration. Participants отмечали высокий уровень научного диалога and the importance of the conference as an international academic platform.
The closing ceremony took place on March 13. The program included a series of academic and creative events, among them an International Olympiad in Russian language and literature.
The essay competition on the topic «ENU - University of the Future» brought together 43 students and around 50 participants from foreign universities. The expressive reading contest featured prose and poetry in Russian and Kazakh, including original works.
Winners and participants were awarded during the closing ceremony. The conference concluded in a festive and inspiring atmosphere, highlighting its role in strengthening international cooperation and advancing the philological community.
