Nauryznama-2026: ENU held a National Dress Day

In the framework of Nauryznama decade, The L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University hosted a festive event "Ulttyk Kiim – Halyk Murasy" ("National clothing – the heritage of the people"), which brought together students, teachers and guests of the university.
The initiators of the event were the Institute of Natural Sciences, the Institute of Physical and Technical Sciences, the Transport and Energy and Mechanical and Mathematical Faculties. The main idea of the meeting is to show the richness of the cultural code through the national costume, preserve the continuity of traditions and strengthen the interest of young people in the historical heritage.
Opening the meeting, Professor of the Higher Mathematics Department Askar Bayarystanov addressed the participants with good wishes.
Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Ardak Beisenbai delivered a welcoming speech. In his address, he stressed that national clothes are an integral part of spiritual culture and an important tool for education.:
"National clothes are a reflection of the history and culture of our people. Each ornament has a deep meaning, and each element of clothing shows national identity and aesthetic taste. Today's event vividly demonstrated the richness of our traditions. This year we are celebrating a new stage in the country's history: constitutional reforms have been implemented, and following the results of the republican referendum, a new Constitution of Kazakhstan has been adopted. This is a new page in the history of the nation. I am sure that the ENU staff and students will actively participate in these transformations," Vice-Rector said.
A special attention of the audience was attracted by the fashion show with the participation of representatives of ENU’s Silver University, where exquisite samples of traditional clothing were presented – from shapans and camisoles to saukele and takiya. Each outfit has become a kind of story about culture and era.
The creative part of the program filled the hall with a festive atmosphere: folk songs were sung, national dances were performed, and the musical accompaniment of the dombra and the kobyz gave the event a special authenticity. The tradition of zhyr shashu organically complemented the overall mood of the evening.
The highlight of the event was the flash mob "Kara Zhorga", which brought together all the participants.
In conclusion, the active participants were awarded in the "Best National Costume" nomination.
