Over 150 athletes participated in the Kazakhstan Speleotourism Championship at ENU

From March 21 to 24, the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University hosted the Open Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in speleotourism on artificial terrain as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations.
The Department of Tourism was represented by the teams “Festina” and “Phoenix” in the “Students” and “Adults” categories. Based on the results of all stages, the “Festina” team confidently secured 1st place among students, demonstrating a high level of preparation and strong teamwork. The “Phoenix” team, competing in the highly competitive “Adults” category alongside professional athletes from various regions, achieved a достойное 3rd place.
A total of 25 teams—around 150 athletes and coaches—from different regions of the country participated in the competition, including Astana, Abai Region (Semey), Pavlodar Region (Pavlodar), and Zhetysu Region (Taldykorgan and Tekeli). The championship was organized in cooperation with the Kazakhstan Federation of Sports Tourism and covered four age categories: adults, students, juniors, and youth.
The competition program provided a comprehensive assessment of participants’ skills. It included individual and team routes, as well as rescue operations stages. Participants demonstrated technical excellence in artificially created conditions, overcoming complex obstacles while meeting requirements for speed, endurance, and safety.
The championship made a significant contribution to the development of speleotourism and the promotion of sports tourism in the country. It also facilitated the exchange of experience between teams and increased young people’s interest in an active and healthy lifestyle as well as extreme sports.
