
International spring school on religious psychology concludes at ENU







The III International Spring School on the Psychology of Religion, titled “The Psychology of Religion in the Context of Khoja Akhmet Yasawi’s Legacy,” was held at L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. The event took place from March 31 to April 1, 2026, at the university’s School of Journalism and Social Sciences.
Scholars from Kazakhstan and abroad, researching Yasawi’s spiritual heritage and topics in the psychology of religion, participated in the school.
The Spring School was organized within the framework of the research project “The Yasawi Path: A Comprehensive Study of the Religious-Philosophical, Literary, and Linguistic Heritage of Traditional Sufism in Kazakhstan”, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Researchers from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, and Germany took part in the school. The event format allowed for both in-person participation at the university and online attendance. During the presentations, scholars discussed various aspects of Sufi psychology, Yasawi’s spiritual heritage, issues of religious education, and the dissemination of the Sufi tradition in both historical and contemporary contexts.
At the conclusion of the school, participants emphasized the importance of studying Yasawi’s spiritual heritage and fostering international scientific collaboration in the fields of the psychology of religion and religious studies.
