The dialogue of generations at ENU: how students and the older generation learn from each other

The Institute of Continuing Education at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University is actively implementing the “Dialogue of Generations” project within the Silver University framework.
The project is already demonstrating significant results: in the first quarter of 2026, more than 320 participants took part in its activities, including young scientists, students, and senior learners.
The project has become an effective platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience. Participants interact through discussion clubs, speech development classes, and educational programs of the Silver University. This process involves not only the transfer of experience from the older generation to the youth, but also the active inclusion of senior participants in the modern educational environment.
Special attention is given to building a sustainable model of intergenerational interaction. This format allows the integration of the life and professional experience of the older generation with the new knowledge and approaches of young people. As the results show, interest in the project continues to grow, and participant engagement remains consistently high.
The “Dialogue of Generations” project fully aligns with the country’s strategic priorities. In his Address to the Nation, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the importance of investing in human capital as the foundation for building a Just Kazakhstan. Initiatives like this create opportunities for lifelong personal development.
Although the project is not commercial in nature, it has a tangible socio-economic impact. It contributes to improving the quality of student training, developing their skills, and building professional networks. At the same time, the university strengthens its reputation, expands partnership opportunities, and advances its unique educational model.
In the long term, the project can serve as a basis for new educational programs, attracting grants, and implementing joint initiatives. However, its main value remains unchanged — it is an investment in people, which shapes a sustainable future for society.
