
Religious Literacy and Prevention of Extremism





On April 8, 2026, a tutorial hour was conducted by the department lecturer M.Zh. Tussupbekova with 2nd-year students of group 24-09, with the participation of theologian Öner Yermekuly from the Eurasian National University. The main purpose of the event was to develop students’ correct understanding of religion, as well as to prevent extremism and terrorism.
During the tutorial session, the theologian provided comprehensive information about the role of religion in society and explained the differences between traditional religions and non-traditional religious movements. In addition, the dangers of religious extremism, its negative impact on society, and ways to prevent it were explained.
The students actively participated, asked questions of interest, and received detailed and informative answers. During the discussion, the importance of improving religious literacy among young people was emphasized.
