From a double degree program to a new stage: ENU and Nanning Normal University (China) have opened a joint institute in China

The Nanning Normal University of the People's Republic of China has opened a joint institute with The L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University called the Eurasian School of Science and Technology.

Chinese citizens will study at the affiliated institute according to the educational programs of the Eurasian National University in the field of chemistry and biology. At the end of their studies, graduates will receive diplomas from two universities.

On the basis of Nanning Normal University, a separate building has been allocated for the institute, equipped with modern technical equipment that ensures a high level of organization of the educational process.

The opening of the institute is aimed at developing international academic cooperation, training highly qualified specialists, as well as expanding scientific and educational ties between Kazakhstan and China.

The opening ceremony was attended by ENU Rector Yerlan Sydykov, President of Nanning Normal Long Guangqing the University’s Party Committee Secretary, Zhang Peng, as well as representatives of two universities.

"As President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted, China is a reliable neighbor, close friend and eternal strategic partner of Kazakhstan.

We consider this project not only as a tool for expanding academic ties, but also as an important mechanism for increasing the competitiveness of the university and promoting Kazakhstani education at the international level.

The history of the project began in 2022. As a result of the work done in 2023-2024, cooperation documents were signed between the parties and an agreement was reached on the establishment of a joint institute.

This project is a new step not only for our university, but also for Kazakhstan as a whole, and can rightfully be considered one of the most promising international projects. I am confident that this new stage will strengthen scientific and educational ties between Kazakhstan and China and open up new opportunities for training specialists," ENU Rector Yerlan Sydykov said.

The ENU Rector added that in the future it is planned to expand the list of educational programs and increase the number of students.

Zhang Peng, Party Committee Secretary of Nanning Normal University, noted that the Eurasian School of Science and Technology is the first joint educational institution of Nanning Normal University approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, and moreover, the first joint educational institution between China and Kazakhstan.

"The opening of the joint institute marks a new stage in the internationalization of Nanning Normal University. This is not only a practical step, but also the deepening of educational exchanges between China and Kazakhstan and the promotion of mutual understanding between civilizations, but also a concrete action to implement the One Belt, One Road initiative," the speaker said.
