
Research Activity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: A Foresight Session











On April 8, 2026, the Higher School of Education, Department of Pedagogy, organized a foresight session on the topic: “How should the research activities of students and master’s students evolve in the era of artificial intelligence?”
The main objective of the session was to discuss the future of students’ research activities, analyze the impact of artificial intelligence, and identify key competencies required in the new environment.
The session was moderated by the Head of the Department, Professor Marziya Pazilovna Assylbekova. The opening remarks were delivered by the Director of the Higher School of Education, Professor Baubek Zhumashuly Somzhurek.
Within the framework of the foresight session: current trends of artificial intelligence in science (ChatGPT, Copilot, AutoML) were presented; an express survey was conducted among participants; during group work, a “future map” for a 3–5 year perspective was developed; the transformation of research activities and changes in the university environment were discussed.
The speaker, PhD student R.T. Sagadatov, delivered a presentation on “AI Trends in Science.”
In the concluding part, moderators A.A. Nurgaliyeva and D.A. Zhumagul summarized the key ideas and identified growth points.
Undergraduate and master’s students actively participated in the foresight session, shared their ideas, and formulated concrete proposals for the development of research activities.
