
As part of the Science Decade, a scientific seminar for young scientists was held at the Department of Civil Engineering.





On April 8, 2026, as part of the Science Decade at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, a scientific seminar for young researchers was held at the Department of Civil Engineering. During the seminar, lecturer-researcher, PhD, Professor Yelbek Utepov delivered a presentation entitled «Academic writing based on the IMRAD Structure».
The presentation addressed the key principles of academic writing, including the requirements for formality, argumentation, structure, and logical coherence of a scientific text. Special attention was given to the IMRAD structure as one of the basic approaches to preparing scientific papers, covering the Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion sections.
As part of the presentation, the participants were introduced to approaches for formulating a research idea, defining the aim and objectives of a study, preparing the abstract, introduction, literature review, and materials and methods sections, as well as presenting the results and discussion. Particular attention was also paid to the correct formatting of references, the use of English-language publications with DOI, and the application of bibliographic managers. The seminar had a practical focus and was aimed at developing the skills required for preparing high-quality scientific publications among young researchers.
