
Scientific seminar "Uzbekali Zhanibekov and the development of national heritage"

In Honor of the 30th Anniversary of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and Science Day, the Department of Archaeology and Ethnology Held a Scientific Seminar “Uzbekali Zhanibekov and the Development of National Heritage”
On April 7, 2026, the Department of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Faculty of History held a scientific seminar entitled “Uzbekali Zhanibekov and the Development of National Heritage” in honor of the 30th anniversary of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and Science Day.
During the seminar, Head of the Department U. Umitkaliyev shared interesting facts about the return of the Taikazan to its homeland through the efforts of U. Zhanibekov. Associate Professor M.K. Khabdulina especially emphasized his modesty and nobility, describing Uzbekali Zhanibekov as a “symbol of political courage.” Senior Lecturer G.I. Ishkalova shared fascinating recollections narrated by the renowned researcher himself, while Associate Professor Z.O. Ibadullayeva elaborated on his invaluable legacy left for the nation. In particular, information was presented about his contribution to the development of museum studies, his work on the restoration of the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, the handcrafted works he created related to Kazakh national clothing, as well as his scholarly publications.

In addition, students of group AE-21 organized a book exhibition dedicated to the scholar’s heritage. Students D. Kusainova, D. Nazar, and Zh. Nurgazy delivered insightful presentations on the life and creative work of Uzbekali Zhanibekov, as well as on his enduring legacy left to future generations.

The event was also attended by the Deputy Deans for Research of the Faculties of History and Philology, N.A. Mukhmetzhanova and G.S. Kasbayeva, as well as young scholar and researcher of U. Zhanibekov’s heritage, Zh. Tansyk. They shared their opinions and presented new interesting insights.
