
Scholars from 7 countries discussed discourse and digital communication at a conference at L.N. Gumilyov ENU







On April 8, 2026, an international scientific and practical conference titled “International Dialogue: Exploring the Discursive Space” was held at the Department of Foreign Philology of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
The conference brought together scholars from Lancaster University (United Kingdom), the National University of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands (Argentina), the Open University of Sri Lanka, Siberian Federal University (Russian Federation), Bishkek State University named after Academician K. Karasaev (Kyrgyzstan), Urgench State University named after Abu Rayhan Beruni (Uzbekistan), as well as the Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages, Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The conference was officially opened by the Head of the Department of Foreign Philology, Associate Professor Dosym Baidrakhanov, who delivered the opening speech to the conference guests - Dean of the Faculty of Philology Serikzat Duysengazy and Director of Working Partners Consortium Kelly Conway. The university administration and invited guests emphasized the importance of scientific cooperation and academic dialogue.
During the plenary session, scholars discussed issues of language, discourse, and intercultural communication in the digital era, the role of artificial intelligence in open and distance learning, literary discourse and verbal/non-verbal communication, as well as the evolution of translation standards.
Within the framework of the conference, new academic connections were established in the fields of linguistics, translation studies, and digital humanities.
Such international meetings contribute to the development of the academic community and significantly expand scholarly dialogue.
