
Researchers Gather at the Department of Translation Theory and Practice for Scientific Seminar.



















On April 10, 2026, the Department of Translation Theory and Practice of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University held the scientific and practical seminar “Modern Scientific Research in Translation Studies,” organized jointly with the Department of Translation and Intercultural Communication of the Faculty of Translation and Philology of Abylai Khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages. The event was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and the 85th anniversary of Kazakh Ablai Khan University.
The seminar was held in a hybrid format and brought together doctoral students, young scholars, faculty members, and researchers working in the field of modern translation studies. The working languages of the seminar were Kazakh, Russian, and English.
The organizers addressed the participants with welcoming remarks, emphasizing the importance of developing research in translation studies and strengthening interuniversity cooperation.
The seminar program included reports devoted to current trends in translation studies and pressing issues in the theory and practice of translation. The participants discussed cultural representation in tourist content, audiovisual translation in Kazakhstan, the translation of somatic and phraseological vocabulary, the transmission of national coloring in literary translation, and linguocultural aspects of translating contemporary American prose and media texts.
During the discussion, the participants noted the high academic level of the presented studies, the relevance of the chosen topics, and the practical significance of the obtained results. The seminar became an effective platform for exchanging experience, discussing modern approaches to translation, and expanding academic cooperation between universities.
At the end of the event, the participants expressed their interest in holding further joint scientific meetings and developing research projects in the field of translation studies.
