Curatorial Hour: Meeting with Theologian Oner Yermekuly

On April 9, 2026, at the Department of Chemistry of the Institute of Natural Sciences, within the framework of a curatorial hour for first-year students of the educational programs В053-5306 "Chemistry of Organic Substances and Polymers," В053-5301 "Applied Chemistry," and В053-5302 "Inorganic Chemistry," a meeting was held with theologian Oner Yermekuly (Chief Specialist of the Social Projects Department).
The event aimed to foster students' spiritual and moral values, develop critical thinking skills, and prevent the influence of destructive religious movements. During the meeting, the speaker discussed the role of religion in modern society, the characteristics of traditional and non-traditional religious movements, and emphasized the importance of preserving national and cultural values.
Special attention was given to issues of information security and recognizing radical ideologies in the online environment. Students received practical recommendations on analyzing information, distinguishing reliable sources from manipulative ones, and forming an independent civic position.
The meeting was held in an open dialogue format: students actively asked questions, shared their opinions, and participated in discussions on relevant topics. Oner Yermekuly provided comprehensive answers and shared examples from his professional experience.
At the end of the event, students noted the importance of such meetings, as they contribute not only to broadening horizons but also to fostering a responsible attitude toward social and spiritual aspects of life.
The curatorial hour became an important platform for strengthening the values of tolerance, mutual respect, and conscious worldview among young people.
