Science in Physical Culture and Sport: From Theory to Practice

On April 6, 2026, a scientific and practical seminar for students of the “Physical Education and Sport” program was held in Room 230 of the main building as part of the Science Decade and the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the University.
The event was organized by the Higher School of Education and the Department of Physical Culture and Sport.
The seminar was moderated and conducted by Diana Yu. Maratova.
A total of 20 students took part in the seminar, demonstrating high interest and active participation.
The event began with a welcome address and a discussion question about the balance between theory and practice in professional activity.
During the mini-lecture, key aspects of the scientific approach to the training process were highlighted, along with common mistakes, including overtraining.
The central part of the seminar involved case-based group work, where students analyzed the causes of declining athletic performance and proposed possible solutions.
The practical session included physical exercises followed by an analysis of heart rate changes and the effects of physical load on the body.
During the discussion, participants debated whether it is possible to be an effective coach without a scientific foundation, presenting arguments from different perspectives.
At the end of the seminar, students noted its relevance, practical value, and applicability to their future professional activities.
