The Faculty of Philology at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (ENU) hosted an international scientific seminar titled “Corpus Linguistics and Digital Analytics in the Age of Big Data: Transforming Methods of Linguistic Material Research.” The event was organized by the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics as part of ENU’s Science Decade, in partnership with researchers from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU).
The Head of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor E.Zhuravleva delivered a welcome address on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor S.Düysenğazy.

During the opening of the seminar, Professor Zharkynbekova highlighted the significance of the partnership with Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and outlined priorities for implementing innovative methods and analytical tools in philological research, which are highly relevant to the current scientific paradigm.
The seminar’s scientific program was divided into two thematic sessions. The first session, dedicated to methodological and instrumental aspects of corpus research, featured presentations from leading experts: Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Sholpan Zharkynbekova presented hybrid approaches combining corpus metrics, experimentation, and discourse analysis; Associate Professor of SPbPU, Candidate of Technical Sciences Marina Kogan discussed the challenges and prospects of Data-Driven Learning (DDL) in the era of large language models; PhD in Education, professional MAXQDA and NVivo trainer, and co-founder of the Qualilab science hub Maria Bekova demonstrated the analytical capabilities of LancsBox and MAXQDA for working with text corpora; Associate Professor, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Bakhtyt Galiyeva provided a detailed overview of the instrumental potential of AntConc in linguistic analysis; and Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Gulbagira Ayupova revealed the methodological potential of two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) in sociolinguistic research.
The second session, focused on applied and pedagogical aspects of digital linguistics, featured Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Maral Nurtazina, who shared effective strategies for integrating digital technologies into language teaching. PhD candidate Azamat Nurseitov presented modern tools for developing students’ discursive and rhetorical competence. First-year master’s students S. Sarsenova, A. Semeibekova, Zh.
