The International Scientific Forum «Omarov Readings: Biology and Biotechnology of the 21st Century»

The International Scientific Forum «Omarov Readings: Biology and Biotechnology of the 21st Century» was held on April 17, 2026, at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University in Astana. The forum was organized by the Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology, with PhD, Acting Associate Professor Nurgul Iksat as the organizer, in partnership with «STOLAB» LLP.

The forum brought together students, master’s and doctoral candidates, and young researchers from leading educational and scientific institutions, including L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Astana Medical University, the Kazakh Research Veterinary Institute, as well as representatives of research laboratories and centers. The total number of participants was 35.

The program included plenary presentations and sectional sessions covering key areas such as microbiology and virology, molecular biology and biotechnology, as well as food, industrial, and medical biotechnology. Participants presented research findings, discussed current scientific challenges, and engaged in academic discussions.

Based on the results of the forum, the winners of the sectional sessions were determined:

Section I:

1st place: Bakhtiyar Azhken, MD, MSc, Astana Medical University;

2nd place: Zhaksat Baikaraev, 3rd-year student, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University;

2nd place: Almas Auganov, 3rd-year student, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University;

3rd place: Eleonora Arysova, Researcher, Kazakh Research Veterinary Institute;

3rd place: Bekbolat Tynysbekov, 1st-year Master’s student, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Researcher at National Laboratory Astana.

 

Section II:

1st place: Nesibeli Maksotova, 4th-year student, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University;

2nd place: Anel Abenova, 3rd-year student, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University;

2nd place: Inkar Aubakirova, Researcher, Kazakhstan Research Institute of Processing and Food Industry LLP;

3rd place: Tamirlan Pazylov, 3rd-year student, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University;

3rd place: Viktoriya Drobova, 2nd-year Master’s student, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.

 

The forum served as an important platform for knowledge exchange, fostering the scientific potential of young researchers, strengthening inter-institutional collaboration, and promoting modern trends in biological science and biotechnology.
