On April 24, 2026, representatives of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University took part in the regional session “Water Resources Management Considering Climate Impacts,” held at the Congress Center in the city of Turkestan.
The event brought together university faculty members, doctoral candidates, master’s students, and undergraduates, as well as experts in hydrology and water resource management. The session was organized by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) in cooperation with the International Water Management Institute (IWMI).
During the summit, participants discussed key challenges related to climate change and the decreasing availability of water resources in Central Asia, as well as possible ways to strengthen regional cooperation and improve the efficiency of water management.
Special attention was given to developing coordinated recommendations for climate change adaptation and establishing sustainable mechanisms for water resource management. As part of the session, memorandums of understanding were signed between the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and IWMI, as well as between CAREC and IWMI.
Participation of ENU representatives in this event contributed to strengthening academic and professional ties and expanding understanding of current regional environmental and water-related issues.
