The works of a scholar are the treasure of a nation

On April 22, the State Archive of Astana hosted an event dedicated to the acceptance of the personal fund of Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Zhambyl Omaruly Artykbaev. The scholar, who has made a tremendous contribution to Kazakh history and ethnography, currently works at the "Medieval Source Studies" scientific center at the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
The event was attended by Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Zhantas Zhakypov; Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor and writer Tursynkhan Zakenuly; Chief Researcher of the Institute of State History of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Duisen Zhakhiyauly; Director of the Kazakhstan-Belarus Center for Scientific and Technical Cooperation of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Zhabay Kaliyev; Dean of the Higher School of Arts and Humanities of Astana International University, historian Sayat Ybyray, as well as students of the capital.
Zhambyl Artykbaev is the author of fundamental research in national historical science, particularly in the fields of ethnology, genealogy (shezhire), and ethno-social structure. The nearly 500 scientific works and articles he has authored have made an immeasurable contribution to the revival of the historical memory of the Kazakh people.
The event dedicated to accepting the personal fund of Professor Zhambyl Omaruly Artykbaev continued at an exhibition timed to the National Book Day and at a round table. The gathered scholars exchanged views on the topic "The Book and National Memory" and shared their thoughts on enriching and utilizing archival treasures in the modern era.
In fact, the Kazakh intelligentsia, having endured the hardships of the colonial period and repressions with heavy losses, has only today, after so many years, gained the fortunate opportunity to work with its national archive and hand over the priceless items in its possession.
We express our deep gratitude to the State Archive of Astana and its head, Zhankeldi Birzhanuly, for organizing this important event and taking custody of the documents, books, and other heritage of scholars.
