Spring of the East: Unity of Cultures

On April 29, 2026, the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University hosted the cultural event “Eastern Spring,” organized by the Faculty of International Relations. The event was held as part of the university’s 30th anniversary and aimed at strengthening intercultural ties.

The event was officially opened by the Chairman of the Board – Rector of the University, Erlan Sydykov. On behalf of the university administration, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Internationalization Duman Aitmukhametov and Ombudsperson Nelya Shapekova also delivered welcoming remarks. Among the distinguished guests were Acting Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Kazakhstan Majid Aligyar and Director of the Confucius Institute Yang Lei.

As part of the “Eastern Spring” and “International Day” events held at the amphitheater, guests enjoyed musical performances of Eastern peoples and artistic presentations in various languages. In addition, members of the language clubs of the Department of Oriental Studies organized an exhibition of traditional handicrafts of Eastern nations, which left a strong impression on visitors. Students of the Department of Oriental Studies presented stage performances and creative acts, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Eastern countries.
