
ENU Students Become Prize-Winners of the National Academic Olympiad

On April 24 and 27, 2026, the XVIII Republican Student Subject Olympiad in “Oriental Studies” was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The competition brought together 2nd–4th year students from leading universities across Kazakhstan, who demonstrated their knowledge in Japanese and Korean languages. The Olympiad assessed not only participants’ linguistic proficiency, but also their cultural awareness, analytical thinking, and professional competencies.
A total of five students from L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University participated in the Olympiad: Altynbek Zhansaya, Yesengeldiyeva Akerke, Tanatkanova Dana, Amirkhanova Medina, and Lambekova Laula. The delegation was accompanied by their academic supervisor, Gulshat Kurmangaziyevna Uteuliyeva, a lecturer of the Department of Oriental Studies.
According to the results, ENU students achieved outstanding success and secured prize-winning positions. In particular, Yesengeldiyeva Akerke won 1st place in the Japanese language section held on April 24 (academic supervisors: G.K. Uteuliyeva, A.A. Tleubayeva), while Amirkhanova Medina took 3rd place in the Korean language section on April 27 (academic supervisor: A.Zh. Kabirova).
The Olympiad served as an important platform for enhancing students’ professional and language skills, as well as developing their intercultural communication competencies. Such academic events contribute to fostering students’ research interest and preparing competitive specialists.
