
Doctoral and Master’s students of the Higher School of Journalism and Social Sciences at the international conference in Rostov-on-Don

On May 5–6, 2026, the VIII International Scientific and Practical Conference “Journalism in the Modern World” dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Faculty of Linguistics and Journalism at Rostov State University of Economics (RSUE, or RINH) was held in Rostov-on-Don. The event brought together researchers, practicing journalists, and students from Russia, China, India, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Georgia, and other countries. Representatives of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University took part in the conference online. The university was well represented at all levels of academic dialogue.
Professor Serik Takhan of the Department of Media Communication and Public Relations joined the conference program committee, delivering a welcoming speech and actively engaging in several sections as an advisor to young researchers.
At the plenary session, ENU doctoral student Aigerim Zhaukhanova presented a report entitled “Artificial Intelligence in the System of New Media: The Transformation of PR Activities and Professional Requirements,” prepared jointly with her academic advisor Prof. Serik Takhan. The presentation drew considerable interest from the audience and became one of the notable contributions to the conference.
Doctoral student Aktoty Yeltai highlighted current prospects for the development of medical journalism in Kazakhstan — a topic that sparked broad discussion among section participants. Master’s student Saule Dosmukhambetova presented the results of her research on identifying the role of digital communications in shaping an HR brand.
Saniya Zakirova, a graduate of the Department of Media Communication and Public Relations and Master of Social Sciences, spoke in two sections, presenting studies on the interaction between journalism and PR in constructing media reality, as well as the influence of these practices on public media literacy.
Master’s student Lailya Abdimalikova concluded the delegation’s presentations with a report on social networks as an alternative platform for journalistic content.
The successful participation of ENU doctoral and master’s students in the VIII International Scientific and Practical Conference (RINH – Rostov-on-Don) became an important step in strengthening the academic ties of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University with leading Russian universities and confirmed the authority of the university’s academic school in the field of media communications.
