ENU hosts the “Architecture of Three Generations” exhibition dedicated to the university anniversary and the 90th anniversary of the Union of Architects of Kazakhstan

The L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University hosted the official opening of the exhibition “Architecture of Three Generations,” dedicated to the 30th anniversary of ENU and the 90th anniversary of the Union of Architects of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The event took place on May 13, 2026, in the “Kultegin” atrium of the university’s academic and administrative building. It brought together representatives of the Union of Architects of Kazakhstan, leading architects of the country, public figures, faculty members, and students of architecture and construction educational programs.
The exhibition “Architecture of Three Generations” presents the history of the formation and development of architecture in Kazakhstan through three key periods: the foundation of the professional architectural community, the Soviet period, and the period of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The exposition introduced visitors to the works of the founders of Kazakhstan’s architectural school, significant urban planning projects, and contemporary architectural landmarks that have shaped the image of the country’s cities.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by representatives of the leadership of Eurasian National University, the Union of Architects of Kazakhstan, the International Association of Unions of Architects of the CIS countries and several European states, as well as specialists from design and research institutions. The speakers emphasized the importance of architecture as a field that combines professional knowledge, historical memory, cultural continuity, and the development of the urban environment.
Special attention within the exhibition was given to the role of architectural heritage in the professional education of future specialists. For students, the event provided an opportunity to learn about the evolution of the national architectural school, to see the contribution of different generations of architects to the development of Kazakhstan’s cities, and to discuss current issues of contemporary design practice with representatives of the professional community.
The exposition featured materials dedicated to landmark architectural objects of Kazakhstan, major urban planning projects, public buildings, cultural complexes, and contemporary projects of the independence period. Among them were projects reflecting the development of national architectural thought, the introduction of new engineering and technological solutions, and the search for a contemporary artistic language in architecture.
As part of the program, participants toured the exhibition and held a professional discussion with the faculty and students of the Department of Architecture. Such meetings strengthen the connection between the academic environment and the professional architectural community, creating conditions for the exchange of experience and for students’ deeper understanding of their future profession.
The “Architecture of Three Generations” exhibition is a traveling project of the Union of Architects of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Its presentation at ENU became part of the university’s anniversary program and an important event aimed at promoting architectural heritage, developing professional dialogue, and supporting the continuity of generations in the field of architecture.
