L.N. Gumilyov ENU Held a Ceremony to Confer the Title of «Honorary Professor» upon Abdrashid Zhukenov

A solemn ceremony was held at the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University to confer the honorary title of “Honorary Professor of L.N. Gumilyov ENU” upon statesman, legal practitioner, and scholar Abdrashid Zhukenov.

The ceremony was moderated by Bauyrzhan Smatlayev, Dean of the Faculty of Law at L.N. Gumilyov ENU, Doctor of Law and Professor.

A congratulatory speech was delivered by Erlan Battashevich Sydykov, Chairman of the Board – Rector of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Doctor of Historical Sciences, and Professor. In his address, the Rector highlighted Abdrashid Tolegenovich’s significant contribution to the development of Kazakhstan’s judicial and law enforcement systems, emphasizing his high professionalism, commitment to the principles of justice, and many years of dedication to educating young legal professionals.

As part of the ceremony, the diploma and academic gown of Honorary Professor of L.N. Gumilyov ENU were formally presented.

Dean of the Faculty of Law Bauyrzhan Mamytbekuly Smatlayev also delivered a special address. He noted that the conferment of the title “Honorary Professor” is a recognition of Abdrashid Tolegenovich’s many years of service to the state, his substantial contribution to the development of criminal law, judicial practice, and legal education. In his speech, the Dean emphasized that Abdrashid Zhukenov’s professional career serves as an example of integrity, justice, and high public responsibility for the younger generation of lawyers.

During the ceremony, congratulatory speeches were also delivered by Doctor of Law, Professor Marat Aldangorovich Sarsembayev, and Doctor of Law, Professor Kuanysh Zhetpisovich Baltabayev. They highlighted Abdrashid Tolegenovich’s outstanding professional reputation, his contribution to the development of national legal science and law enforcement practice, as well as his long-standing work in training highly qualified legal specialists.

The event was attended by representatives of the academic and legal communities, faculty members, students, master’s and doctoral students, colleagues, and invited guests, including retired Supreme Court judges Omirserik Sagyndykovich Kozhabayev and Tolebay Azhybekovich Kozhan, former Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlik Abdyrakhimovich Kenenbayev, Constitutional Court judge Kairat Tolegenovich Zhakipbayev, Doctor of Law and Professor Isidor Shamilovich Borchashvili, Doctor of Law Kanatbek Beisenbekovich Safinov, as well as retired judge Yermek Kuandykovich Serekbayev.

Abdrashid Zhukenov devoted more than forty years to service in the judicial and law enforcement system of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Over the years, he held the positions of Judge of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Combating Economic and Corruption Crimes.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Abdrashid Tolegenovich expressed his gratitude to the university administration and the Faculty of Law for the trust placed in him and for the high recognition of his professional achievements. The solemn event concluded with a group photograph of the ceremony participants.
