
ENU Launches Program on Redesigning First-Year Educational Programs

A professional development course titled “Growth Mindset Unlocking the Potential of Educators: Redesign of First-Year Educational Programs, Renewal of the General Education Core, and Development of a Unique ENU Model” has started at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University for the university’s faculty members.
The opening ceremony was led by Bayzhuman Kashkhynbay, Director of the Department for Academic Affairs. Welcoming remarks were also delivered by the program organizer and lead trainer, Almagul Kanagatova, founder of Global Nomad Education.
The main objective of the program is to train faculty members in modern approaches to redesigning first-year educational programs based on the principles of growth mindset, competency-based design, and practice-oriented curriculum development. Special emphasis is placed on updating the general education core, implementing interdisciplinary approaches, and developing educational models aligned with current academic and labor market demands.
During the course, participants will explore:
- current trends in the transformation of higher education;
- competency-based approaches and learning outcomes design;
- approaches to developing the general education core;
- modular and interdisciplinary curriculum design;
- development and updating of first-year course syllabi;
- alignment of educational programs with the labor market and future professions;
- local and international case studies in academic development.
The program is intended for heads of educational programs, methodologists, academic development staff, and faculty members involved in redesigning first-year educational programs.
The total duration of the course is 80 academic hours, including 40 hours in offline format and 40 hours in online format.
