Professor Askar Zhussupbekov Delivered a Presentation at the Prestigious China-Russia Forum in Harbin
Professor Askar Zhussupbekov, Director of the Geotechnical Institute of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and Academician of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, participated in the 14th China–Russia Forum on Rock Mechanics and Deep Engineering, held in late May 2026 in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, People's Republic of China.
As an invited speaker, Professor Zhussupbekov delivered a presentation entitled «Intelligent Geodatabase for Foundation Design in Complex Engineering and Geological Conditions.» He also gave a series of lectures for students and faculty members of Harbin Institute of Technology and Heilongjiang University of Science and Technology.
The China-Russia Forum on Rock Mechanics and Deep Engineering is recognized as one of the most authoritative international scientific platforms in this field. The forum was established by Academician Qian Qihu, recipient of China’s Highest State Science and Technology Award, Academician Pan Yishan, and the late Academician Nikolai Oparin of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Since its inaugural session in 2011, the forum has successfully held fourteen sessions, bringing together leading scientists and experts in geomechanics, mining engineering, and underground construction.
This year's conference focused on deep rock mechanics, mineral resource exploration, intelligent mining technologies, prevention and control of hazardous geological phenomena, environmentally sustainable resource development, ecological reclamation, and the integrated use of underground space.
More than 300 scientists, researchers, and industry representatives from China, Russia, and Kazakhstan participated in the forum.
The event was organized by the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering, Heilongjiang University of Science and Technology, Liaoning University, the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Professor Askar Zhussupbekov’s participation in the forum contributed to the strengthening of international scientific cooperation and the promotion of Kazakhstan’s research achievements in geotechnics and engineering geology on the global scientific stage.
