
ENU and Chinese universities have identified new areas of cooperation

A meeting was held at the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University with a delegation consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People's Republic of China, as well as leading higher educational institutions of China.
The purpose of the meeting was to develop international scientific and educational cooperation, identify new areas of partnership and strengthen bilateral ties.
During the event, the parties discussed priority areas of cooperation in the field of education and scientific research. Special attention was paid to the expansion of academic mobility programs, the implementation of joint educational projects, scientific research and support for international initiatives. The issues of developing dual degree programs, enhancing the exchange of experience between the teaching staff and strengthening cooperation in the field of support for young scientists were also discussed.
ENU’s Vice Rector for Social and Infrastructural Development Lyazzat Tolegenkyzy acquainted the guests with the achievements of the university and stressed the strategic importance of cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in the field of education and science.
"Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pays special attention to the development of a comprehensive strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China, including strengthening cooperation within the framework of the One Belt– One Road initiative. Today’s meeting clearly demonstrates the important role of education and science in strengthening mutual understanding and trust between States. Currently, the Eurasian National University actively cooperates with 29 leading universities in China in the fields of education, science and innovation," Vice-Rector said.
She also stressed that the Confucius Institute has been operating at the university since 2007. Its main mission is to teach Chinese language and culture, as well as strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries through cultural and scientific events. During this time, the institute has trained more than 14 thousand students.
In addition, since 2025, ENU, together with the Tianjin Vocational Institute, has been implementing the IT project "Lu Ban Workshop". The initiative promotes the training of highly qualified personnel in the field of modern technologies and the introduction of international experience.
In turn, Geng Junwu, the second-level inspector of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People's Republic of China, noted the importance of developing scientific and educational cooperation between the two countries.
"Cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in the fields of education, science and personnel training is consistently developing. The Eurasian National University is one of the leading universities that effectively implement international partnerships. The scientific potential of the university and its international experience create a solid foundation for the successful implementation of joint projects. I hope that in the future our cooperation will be filled with new practical initiatives and will bring mutually beneficial results," Geng Junwu said.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their intention to continue working to strengthen partnerships and develop joint projects.
