
ReStart project: best young eco-activists of the country are awarded at ENU

The final of the 10th season of the republican youth environmental project "ReStart" took place at The L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
The event was attended by deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of government agencies, international organizations and the business community, environmental experts and public figures. The speakers discussed issues of improving environmental policy, waste recycling, climate change and the development of a green economy.
The purpose of the republican youth environmental project "ReStart" is to increase the ecological culture and civic responsibility of youth, support initiatives aimed at environmental protection, as well as popularize the principles of sustainable development. Within the framework of the project, participants present innovative ideas and projects aimed at solving urgent environmental problems, have the opportunity to share experiences and receive the support of professional experts.
On the first day of the finals, the teams presented and defended their projects before the competition committee. The participants presented initiatives in the field of ecology, environmental protection, waste management and sustainable development.
"This year, the ReStart project is summing up the results of its tenth season. During this time, he supported the environmental initiatives of thousands of young people and helped implement many socially significant ideas. The finalist teams presented relevant projects in the field of environmental protection, waste management, recycling and sustainable development. We are pleased that young people are actively involved in solving environmental problems and offering result-oriented initiatives. In the future, ReStart will continue to contribute to the formation of an environmentally responsible generation and support for young leaders," Nesvelya Rakhimova, Head of the ENU Center for Sustainable Development, said.
Two panel sessions devoted to topical environmental issues were also held. The first session discussed legislative initiatives in the environmental field, and the second was devoted to the best practices of corporate social responsibility and sustainable development.
Chairman of the Association of Environmental Organizations of Kazakhstan Aigul Solovyeva thanked everyone who supports the ReStart project, and also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, universities of the country and the Eurasian National University for their assistance in organizing the event.
"It is especially important to involve young people in the environmental agenda. The issues of waste management, recycling and the formation of an ecological culture cannot be solved only through legislation. The initiative, new ideas, energy of the youth and their caring attitude towards the future of the country play a special role here," Aigul Solovyeva emphasized.
It was noted that the Head of State not only initiated the national program "Taza Kazakhstan", but also introduced a number of important amendments to the Constitution, including those related to environmental protection and environmental responsibility. This indicates the priority attention of the state to environmental issues and the implementation of a systemic policy in this area.
Deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yedil Zhanbyrshin, addressing the youth, noted that "their very participation in such projects is a serious achievement."
"But it is important not only to participate, but also to introduce the issues raised into scientific circulation, engage in research and develop science. The more young people there are with creative and innovative thinking, the more contribution we can make to improving the environmental situation and preserving nature," the deputy concluded.
As part of the final, an award ceremony was held for the winners of the republican ReStart competition, and the results of the tenth anniversary season of the project were summed up.
Svetlana Kozhamberdiyeva from Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University became the winner of the Grand Prix.
Dauren Orazalin (K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional State University), Aidan Kadyrov (Astana International University), Yekaterina Strokova (East Kazakhstan Technical University named after D. Serikbayev), Aigul Segizbayeva (Mirzhakyp Dulatov Kostanay University of Engineering and Economics) and Nurai Zhakabai (Zhumabek Tashenov University).
In addition, Yedil Yerkinuly (Narxoz University), Dauren Orazalin (K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional State University), Rafis Abazov (Kazakh National Agrarian Research University) and Aidana Kozhakhmetova (M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University) were awarded in the nomination "For Active Participation in Plastic Collection".
The ReStart project remains one of the important platforms for the formation of an ecological culture of youth, support for environmental initiatives and promotion of sustainable development ideas.
