
ENU Faculty of Law Participated in the Forum of the Association of Law Schools of SCO Member States

L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University participated in the Forum of the Association of Law Schools of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States entitled “The Role of the Association of Law Schools in the Implementation of SCO Initiatives,” which was held on June 11–13, 2026, at Jusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.
The Forum brought together leaders and representatives of leading law schools from SCO member states, government officials, members of the academic and educational community, and international experts.
Representing L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University at the Forum were Lazat Tolegenkyzy, Member of the Management Board and Vice-Rector for Social and Infrastructure Development; Alua Zhaslankyzy Muratova, PhD, Head of the Department of Criminal Law Disciplines of the Faculty of Law; and Anel Rakhmetzhanovna Yensebayeva, Candidate of Legal Sciences and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Criminal Law Disciplines.
During the plenary session, Vice-Rector Lazat Tolegenkyzy delivered a welcoming address, emphasizing the importance of strengthening academic cooperation among universities of SCO member states. She highlighted the achievements of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University in the international educational arena and expressed her gratitude to Jusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University for the excellent organization of the Forum. In her speech, she also underscored the significant role of Shanghai University of Political Science and Law and the International Center for Legal Training and Cooperation for SCO Member States in advancing legal education and academic mobility.
Throughout the Forum, participants discussed key issues related to the development of legal education within the SCO region, training specialists for the digital economy, enhancing international cooperation, expanding academic mobility, and strengthening the role of universities in ensuring legal security and sustainable development across the region.
During the visit, ENU representatives held working meetings with the leadership of Shanghai University of Political Science and Law (PRC). The discussions focused on prospects for implementing joint educational programs, conducting collaborative research projects, expanding academic mobility opportunities for students and faculty members, and participating in training programs for SCO member states.
In addition, a meeting was held with Dogdurbek Toktosartovich Chontoev, Rector of Jusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University. The parties discussed further development of inter-university cooperation, expansion of academic mobility programs, organization of joint scientific events, and implementation of new educational initiatives.
Participation in the Forum of the Association of Law Schools of SCO Member States provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the achievements of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University on an international platform, strengthen partnerships with leading universities across the SCO region, and identify new areas of cooperation in legal education, research, and the training of highly qualified professionals.
